Spiritual Direction

I am available for spiritual direction/coaching online (Zoom) and in person. I have been doing spiritual direction for nearly twenty years. It is one of the aspects of my priesthood about which I am most passionate. I view the priest as a “physician of the soul.”

My understanding and practice of spiritual direction have been deeply influenced and formed by desert and contemplative spirituality, St. John of the Cross, and Jung. 

My life of prayer is at the heart of my approach to spiritual direction. I am very clear that I am not directing in the sense that I have someone else’s answers to his or her life. I trust he or she already has the answers and my work is to prayerfully listen, companion, and guide through offering observations, asking questions, and inviting self-reflection. I have no set agenda for spiritual direction. The directee’s life is the agenda. Together we are on a journey of growth and wholeness. 

My base rate for spiritual direction is $75.00 per hour. I view the fee for spiritual direction/coaching more as a symbol of our mutual accountability and less as a financial transaction. That amount, however, is just a starting point. For some $75.00 per hour is not a problem. And some could easily pay more but for others $75.00 is just not feasible. I do not want money to be the reason someone does not participate in spiritual direction. However, I also believe that “the laborer deserves to be paid” (Luke 10:7; 1 Timothy 5:18).

If you are able to pay $75.00 per hour please do so. If you are able to pay more please consider doing that. If $75.00 per hour is just not possible for you, please pay what you able to. The button below is a payment link. It has $75.00 as the default amount. However, there are arrows on the contribution amount that will allow you to either increase or decrease the default amount.
