I began “Interrupting the Silence” a little over twelve years ago in January 2009. It started with a few “I wonder ifs.” “I wonder if I can figure out the technology and how to create a blog.” “I wonder if people will read and respond to what I write.” “I wonder if this might be a part of my vocation.”
The answers to my wonderings have been yes. I figured out how to do a blog. And I’m always a bit surprised by and immensely grateful for your reading and responding to what I write. Thank you. And more than ever I’ve come to see “Interrupting the Silence” as a part of my vocation.
I’ve been wondering, though, if there is something else. And again the answer seems to be yes.
I will soon begin making some changes to “Interrupting the Silence.” I will be upgrading and updating the site. It will be a work in progress over the next few weeks. I’ll be figuring it out as I go. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
The blog will still be the centerpiece of the site and remain accessible during this time of updating. I’ll also be making some new offerings.
At one level this is about improving and enhancing the site’s appearance and functionality. At another level this update reflects some changes in me, my vocation, and the direction of my ministry.
I am not leaving the priesthood and I have no plans to leave my parish but over the last few years I have experienced an increased calling toward more spiritual formation through spiritual direction, mentoring, book groups, and teaching. I’m planning to offer those online.
I’m excited about the possibilities and thankful for your companionship along the way.
Please let me know about your experience of the updated site and if you have suggestions for either content or format.
Thank you for supporting and helping me to interrupt the silence.
God’s peace be with you,
Mike+
