** This class has been completed and is not currently being offered.
As you may have noticed, racism has been a part of my preaching the last few weeks (I Can’t Breathe, Jesus’ Line in the Sand, and Prophetic Tracks). I will be offering a reading and discussion group about racism for the parish I serve, though it is not limited to parishioners. I think this is some of the most important work we can do right now, and I hope you will join me in it. No one escapes the effects of racism. It’s the water we all swim in regardless of our color. And for some it’s the water they drown in.

We’ll meet via Zoom twice a month and use Google Classroom as a way to stay connected in between our Zoom meetings.
We’ll begin with Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility. It is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and various sites listed on the author’s website. It can be difficult to find and currently is often out of stock.
I have about twenty-five from within and outside the parish who want to be a part of the group. In order to accommodate as many people as possible I will offer two sections as follows:
- Day Group: 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 1:30-3:00 p.m. central time. The first meeting will be Thursday, July 16, at 1:30 p.m. central time.
- Evening Group: 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 5:30-7:00 p.m. central time. The first meeting will be Monday, July 27, at 5:30 p.m. central time.
Please e-mail me if you want to be a part of this group and let me know which section you will attend, day or evening. I will send you some additional information and the Zoom and Google Classroom links.
Thank you for your consideration. I’m looking forward to our time together.
God’s peace be with you,
Mike+
