Boots and a Blue Bra, a Modern Nativity Scene

This is the world into which Jesus is born. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

For the yoke of their burden,
and the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor,
you have broken as on the day of Midian.

For all the boots of the tramping warriors
and all the garments rolled in blood
shall be burned as fuel for the fire.

For a child has been born for us,
a son given to us.

– Isaiah 9:5-6

Celebrating Christmas is not an option. Look at the picture. We just don’t get it. We have to celebrate Christmas every year.  Maybe if we continue to show up at the nativity scenes of our lives and world, one year it will sink in and we will finally get it. Then maybe we will know and behave as if the child really is

Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.

– Isaiah 9:6.
